Rado Springs – 2120 Session Timeline and Lore
Overview
Rado Springs is set in Colorado in the year 2120, less than fifty years after the Great War. The world has been forever changed, but survival remains brutal. Some survivors descend from public and private vaults built across Colorado by Vault-Tec, while the rest are mutants, ghouls, super mutants, sentient deathclaws, and other abominations shaped by radiation.
Historical Timeline
Pre-War Colorado
- 2050: Colorado Springs receives major funding to build gun, ammunition, and military technology factories. Vault-Tec participates, constructing a fully robotic factory alongside Vault 60. The Ministry of Transportation announces the creation of a subway system with two lines. The city becomes highly industrialized, in some ways surpassing Denver. Many factories and military facilities are established underground.
- 2056: The subway system is completed and opens. The city grows rapidly as people migrate from nearby cities and states for work.
- 2060: Fuel scarcity drastically reduces automobile traffic. Limited production of electric and fusion-powered vehicles begins, increasing pressure on fusion research.
- 2061: A far-right politician is elected mayor, allowing private military companies (PMCs) to operate. Industrial growth continues alongside a surge in criminal activity and violations of federal law.
- 2064: Widespread protests in Colorado nearly lead to civil war. PMCs and the government manage to quell the unrest early.
- 2066: The first microfusion cell is developed as a potential solution to the energy crisis during the Resource Wars.
- 2077: The Great War occurs.
Post-War Colorado
- 2095: Vault 60 sends its first squad to the surface. They never return.
- 2113: A ghoul named Groover brings the “Curbers” to the abandoned city. They occupy an old hotel and begin constructing a town using slaves collected from across Colorado. Tribes roam the state, some falling victim to the slavers.
- 2115: Rado Springs is officially established in the northwestern part of the pre-war city. The town is authoritarian and inhumane but sufficiently resourced to sustain its citizens. The Curbers rebuild a water filtration plant and raise mole rats, pig rats, and slaves for food.
2120 – Session Setting
The story begins as players arrive with a caravan of ghoulified nomads, wandering gypsy traders whose wheels never stop turning. Rado Springs is ruled with an iron grip by the Curbers, a gang of mutant slavers. Freedom has a price; citizens must pay a fee to avoid chains.
The town sprawls across a ruined highway bridge, with most areas dangerous. Only the so-called Fairtrade District offers relative safety, and only if dues are paid. Players will navigate a world filled with quests, dungeons, and dangerous encounters.
Gameplay and Rules
- NPC interactions with GMs are limited to two times per week per player (three for Patrons and Contributors).
- All player avatars must be GM-approved and converted into the signature green VHS style.
- RP Points act as social credit and can be used to upgrade characters or unlock quests. They are earned both in-game (missions, RP moments, consequences) and out-of-game (videos, screenshots, journals).
- Severe illnesses strike players regularly, except Patrons and Contributors. Cures exist but are difficult to obtain.
- Natural traps, hidden holes, and misleading paths are common; careful exploration is required.
- Remnants of war litter the world: minefields, hidden traps, and deranged ghoulified soldiers roam the wastelands.
- Discord is mandatory to play, as all characters are activated by the GM team to prevent griefing.
