Character Creation

Getting Started

Before you can enter the world, it is mandatory to follow these steps:

  • Join our Discord server.
  • Fill in a character sheet using this Google Docs template.
  • Open a ticket via the gm_hotline Discord channel and send a link to your completed character sheet.
  • Once submitted, GMs will review your sheet, answer any questions, and help with the activation of your in-game character.
  • Read the In-game rules either on the wiki or on Discord before creating your character.
  • If you haven't installed the client, do so accordingly to the guide on this page.

After completing these steps, you can proceed to create your in-game character.

Character Creation Overview

Creating a character functions similarly to Fallout 1 and 2‘s system, but with a few changes. Loading up the game will bring you to the main menu; if you have yet to create a character, click on the Register button to be brought to the character creation screen.

In-game Character Creation Screen

The character creation screen is where you will choose what skills, stats, and traits your character will have, along with their name, password, age, gender, and appearance.

  • Note:* To choose your appearance, click on the icon to the right of the gender selection box. This will open a menu allowing you to change your character model by clicking the up and down arrows. Some models are limited in their animations and weapon/skill usage.

Skills

See the full details on the Skills page.

  • You can tag 3 skills, which will increase at double the rate when investing skill points.
  • Skill points depend on perks and intelligence, and you gain more points with each level.
  • Maximum character level is 12.
  • Gathering skills (mining, chopping, etc.) cannot be tagged or directly increased; they only grow through usage.

S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

See the full details on the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. page.

  • Determines many aspects of your character such as hit points, action point regeneration, vision range, and more.
  • Each stat has a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 10.

Traits

See the full details on the Traits page.

  • Select a maximum of 2 traits, minimum of none.
  • Each trait has unique bonuses and drawbacks; read carefully before deciding.

Description Box

  • The bottom right of the screen shows descriptions of any Skill, Trait, or S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat you click on.
  • This allows you to understand its effects on gameplay.
